Do you keep an eye out for security risks on my VPS? Print

Since the service is self-managed, the client is responsible for keeping the VM secure.

As a suggestion, you could turn off password authentication and import SSH keys into your OS. In SolusVM 2, you can do this right from your panel and in SolusVM 1, this can be done manually from the shell. This will make it impossible to brute force your VPS for your password, since you are not using it anymore.

In Linux, you can also periodically check who last accessed your VPS and from what IP address, using 'last' command. If the login is not recognized, then there could be a breach.

Appropriately configure your firewall settings, and constantly update your system and application to protect your server following standard security methods. When a user is careful of their VPS security, they ensure their data is protected. Potential security problems and vulnerabilities can be handled effectively ensuring a secure operating platform.
